Which hairstyle?

This morning, I work up thinking I really need a haircut ! Actually, I have been thinking to cut my hair for more than a month.  However, as anybody who has lived in Seville knows, it is almost impossible to get a hairdresser to cut your already short hair in April.  How do I dare to cut my hair two weeks before feria? 

The truth is that we are two weeks into May and I still have not paid my visit to the hairdresser.  Today is the day.  First, I woke up with bad hair.  Second, while A. (who is visiting Seville) is at the SPA, I get my dose of beauty at the hairdresser.  Third, I phoned Bruno from BRN and finally managed to get an appointement with him.  Fourth, tonight I meet the girls. 

So definately, today is the right day (although it would have been nice to have some more sun – where did this grey weather come from?).  But the question is which hairstyle?

As always, I’ve spent a couple of minutes browsing the Internet to get an idea of what I feel like.  And this is my little collection, which I will show Bruno.  Let me know what you think.

I love this one, but perhaps my hair is slightly too flat.  I need more volume.

Esta mañana, me desperté pensando que realmente necesito un corte de pelo! En realidad, he estado pensando en cortarme el pelo durante más de un mes. Sin embargo, como cualquiera que ha vivido en Sevilla sabe, es casi imposible conseguir que un peluquero te corta el pelo ya corte en abril. ¿Cómo me atrevo a cortarme el pelo dos semanas antes de feria?

La verdad es que son dos semanas en mayo y todavía no he hecho mi visita a la peluquería. Hoy es el día. En primer lugar, me desperté con mal pelo.  En segundo lugar, mientras que A. En tercer lugar, me llamó por teléfono a Bruno de BRN y, finalmente, logró obtener una cita con él. En cuarto lugar, esta noche tengo salida de chicas.

Así que definitivamente, hoy es el día correcto (aunque hubiera sido mejor tener un poco más de sol  – ¿de dónde viene esto cielo gris?). Pero la pregunta del million: cual peinado?

Como siempre, he pasado un par de minutos navegando por la Internet para tener una idea de lo que me apetece. Y esta es mi pequeña colección, que voy a mostrar a Bruno. Déjame saber lo que piensas.

Entre mis compras del viaje, un paso más a la vida adulta: el maquillaje.

Porque no basta con empezar a usar tacones. Si una quiere de verdad hacerse mujer, aparte de ello hay que saber cómo maquillarse. Y, por supuesto, tener lo mínimo necesário para hacerlo en casa.

Así que aprovechando el paseo a por las sandálias perfectas, nos presentamos, Nina y yo, en la tienda de MAC. Le miré a la chica en la cara (que no podría estar más maquillada) y le dije:

– A ver. No tengo ni idea de como maquillarme. Así que tú me lo enseñas y, al final, lo que me digas me lo llevo todo.

Y así fue como me compré mi primer kit make up completo:

Y ya que el tema es maquillaje, me gustaría presentaros este blog de una amiga de mi hermana (a lo mejor no lo comprendéis todo porque está en portugués, pero hay unos vídeos super explicativos). La chica es una alucinada por maquillaje y decidió empezar este blog hace ya un poco más de 1 año, si no me equivoco. Hoy, aparte del maquillaje, habla de otros temas como uñas, pelos y moda. Para este último, cuenta con la participación especial de una amiga, por lo visto especialista en el tema.

Se llama: Make up Make y en lo que se refiere al make up propiamento dicho, me gusta porque habla de qué te tienes que comprar, las últimas novedades del mercado, como disfrazar tus imperfecciones y, lo mejor, estos vídeos tutoriales super prácticos  explicando paso a paso cómo hacerte aquella mirada iluminada o estos ojos negros tan bonitos que siempre ves en las revistas.

La cosa ha ido tan requetebien, que hoy el blog se ha convertido en página web, con derecho incluso a la venta de espacio publicitario! A que es una verdadera inspiración??

And since the subject is makeup, I’d like to present you the blog of a friend of my sister (maybe not comprehend it all because it is in Portuguese, but there are some videos super explanatory). The girl is deluded by makeup and decided to start this blog a little more than 1 year ago, if I remember correctly. Today, apart from the makeup, she tals about other issues such as nails, hair and fashion. For the latter, with the special participation of a friend, apparently a specialist in the subject.

It’s called Make up Make and  I like it because it presents to you what you have to have, the latest market developments, explains how to disguise your imperfections and, the best all, she has these super practical tutorial videos explaining  step by step how to become enlightened, or how to prepare those beautiful black eyes that you always see in magazines.

Things have gone so well, today’s blog has become a web page with the right even to sell advertising space! Does not it really inspires you?

Yo nunca he sido demasiado consumista. Tampoco comprendía esto de que a las mujeres se les da por comprar cuando están tristes, estresadas, disgustadas o simplemente ociosas.

Pues bien. En mi semanita en Londres yo estaba triste, estresada, disgustada Y ociosa. Tenía tiempo, dinero, estaba sola y con el autoestima baja baja. Así que me he permitido cuidarme un poco y hacerme unos mimos. Probar a ver como me sentía. Y mi descubierta fue que sí! chicas, irse de compras es de lo mejor que hay!

Así que me pasé 5 días entre Covent Garden, Oxford Street y Camden Town y me he comprado de todo un mucho! Aqui os presento mis auto-regalos preferidos:

En el orden:

1) unas gafas Tom Ford chulísimas que me han costado los ojos de la cara (o sea, ahora más que nunca mejor usarlas mucho), pero como son gafas de sol, buenas, lindas y de un modelo casi clásico, pues han merecido la pena;

2) unos sapatitos oxford que están super de moda y, bueno, como estaba en Londres no podría dejar de comprarmelos, a que si? Estos son de Next y me han costado casi nada. Lo que es bueno, porque luego salen de moda y por lo menos no me he dejado el sueldo en ellos;

3) un top de seda de Zara que, por cierto, está con una colección increíble! Vosotras que la tenéis tan cerquita no podéis dejar de pasaros po allí. Todo con mucho color, precioso. Yo, en realidad, me compre como que mitad de la tienda. Pero he elegido enseñaros esta porque me parece la más mona de las monas!

4) sandalias de tacón muy, pero que muy altos (por lo menos si los comparo con lo que suelo usar). Por que? Pues porque tenía ganas de marcha, no me había llevado tacones, estaba en Londres y, al final, en algún momento de mi vida tenía que empezar a ponerme tacones, verdad? Así que me fui a Aldo y estas fueron las más cómodas e chulas que encontré. Porque ademas eso: son altas, pero super cómodas.

5) y por fin, este bolso de Zara que, en realidad, me lo compré en Lisboa, a la vuelta. Porque mi vuelo hacía conexión allí, con una noche en la ciudad. Entonces reservé una habitación en un hotel 4 estrellas chulísimo (porque yo lo valgo), al lado del centro comercial y al día siguiente por la mañana, antes de irme al aeropuerto, me fui una vez más de compras. Y cuando vi este bolso, me enamoré! Me lo compré, llegué al hotel, cambié mis cosas de bolso y he vuelto a casa ya con el nuevo colgadito de mis brazos. A que es mono??

I’ve never been too consumerist. Nor is it understood that women are given to buy when they are sad, stressed, upset or just idle.

Well. In my short week in London I was sad, stressed, upset and idle. I had time, money, was lonely and low self-esteem. So I’ve I allowed myself to a few quirks. Just to test and see how I felt. And I discovered that yes! girls,  go shopping is the best option!

So I spent 5 days walking through Covent Garden, Oxford Street and Camden Town and I bought a whole lot! Here I present my favorite purchases:

In order:

1) Tom Ford sunglasses that cost me ” the eyes of my face”  (it is a translation from a portuguese expresion that means: really expensive), but as they are sunglasses inf irst place, really good ones, very very beautiful and almost a classical model, they have earned the penalty;

2) those oxford shoes that are super fashionable and, well, I was in London so I could not fail to buy it, could I? These are from Next and cost me almost nothing. What’s good, because they will be out of fashion soon (here in Brasil, I must say), so at least I did not leave salary in them;

3) a silk top from Zara which, incidentally, has an incredible collection! You have it so close to you that you can not miss passing by there. All very colorful, beautiful. Actually, I bought like half the store. But I chose to show you this special one because I think it is the cutest of cute!

4) heeled sandals very, very high (at least if compared with what I am used to). Why? Because I wanted to go danving, I did not bring heels, I was in London and, eventually, at some point in my life, I would have to start wearing heels, right? So I went to Aldo and these were the most comfortable and cool I found. Because they are high, but very comfortable.

5) and finally this Zara bag that, in fact, I bought in Lisbon. Because my flight a night connection there, so I booked a room in a 4 star hotel very cool (because I’m worth it), next to the mall and the next day morning, before going to the airport, I went shopping again. And when I saw this bag, I fell in love! I bought it, got to the hotel, changed my bag and I came home with the new one in my arms. Isn’t it pretty?

Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend a photography course with Javier García Rossell.  I had not realised until the last moment, that the course was meant to be focused on flash lighting. Really and truly, flash lighting is not my thing.  However, I have to say that Javier has succeeded in making me see the beauty of flash lighting and much more.  It was great to be able to go through the basic notions of photography, play with natural light, learn how to use flash and work with a beautiful model: Ines Rodriguez. A day dedicated to photography.  What else can I ask?

For such a great day, I am grateful to my colleagues who have come up with the idea of setting up a photoclub, through which this course was organised.  For anybody who is interested in attending a similar course, Javier is conducting another one on the 22nd May.  And so I leave you with some of my shots from this course …

El sábado pasado, tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un curso de fotografía con Javier García Rossell. No me había dado cuenta hasta el último momento que el curso iba a estar enfocado en iluminación, en particular en el uso del flash. El flash no es lo mío. Sin embargo, tengo que decir que Javier ha logrado hacerme ver la belleza de la iluminación del flash y mucho más. El curso fue genial: un repaso a las nociones básicas de la fotografía, juego con la luz natural, uso del flash y trabajo con una bella modelo: Inés Rodriguez. Un día dedicado a la fotografía.  ¿Que mas puedo pedir? 

 Gracias por ese gran día a mis colegas que han organizado el curso a traves del nuevo “Fotoclub” del trabajo. Para cualquiera que esté interesado en asistir a un curso similar, Javier tiene otro previsto para el 22 de mayo. Aqui os dejo algunas de las fotos del curso …

Redness

I have always liked red.  But my love for red comes and goes.  I did not realise how much I am enjoying the redness of this season, until I unpacked my luggage from my trip to London and realised that half of it had some red in it.  Not only that, there is also an awesome amount of red in my photos.  So, as lately I am thinking collages (some new ideas are brewing in my head), I am inspired by Lisa Congdon´s blog , ‘A Collection a Day’ and following my friend U´s suggestion, I took some shots of my new belongings … Here is my redness for the festive season:

And it seems my colourful mood has led me to this great project with a fabulous mission: colouring the world:

Siempre me ha gustado el color rojo. Pero mi amor por el rojo viene y va. No me di cuenta de lo mucho que estoy disfrutando del “enrojecimiento” de la presente temporada, hasta que desempaqueté el equipaje de mi viaje a Londres y me di cuenta que en la mitad de las cosas el rojo estaba presente.

Pero no sólo eso, ya que en mis fotos también hay una cantidad impresionante de rojo. Así que, como últimamente estoy pensando mucho sobre el tema de collages (algunas nuevas ideas se están gestando en mi cabeza), me sentí inspirada por el blog de Lisa Congdon ‘Una colección un día’ y cogiendo la sugerencia de mi amiga U., he hecho algunas fotos de mis nuevas adquisiciones ….. Aquí comparto el “enrojecimiento” de la temporada festiva.

…Y parece que mi estado de ánimo de colores me ha llevado a este gran proyecto con una misión fabulosa: colorear el mundo.

The devil wears Zara

No matter how much we lust for Prada, our everday purchases are mostly from high street stores, says Cameron.  Her addictive blog ‘El Diablo Viste de Zara’ went straight to my favourites after reading a couple of posts.  Amongst other things, Cameron talks about upcoming trends, but also goes through the hassle of sharing with her readers where you can buy the clones of the big brands from the high street stores.  What else can I ask for? And not only that, it seems we share the same city!

In few minutes, I’ve already made my list of what is missing from wardrobe for the coming autumn.  And here they come thanks to Cameron.

No matter one´s religious views, the holy week in most of Europe still remains one of the holiest week amongst most of us.  And if you live in the south of Europe and especially in Andalucía, you cannot remain untouched by all that´s happening around you.

In Seville, processions start as early as the Sunday before: Domingos de Ramos.  Sunday is big day. Families gather in the city centre, friends meet up for lunch, people you have not met for ages are in the cafe next door.   And as the tradition states, everyone is dressed up in their Sunday best and most are parading in their new crispy clothes.  And if the day is as beautiful and sunny as it was last Sunday, then everybody is happy to put new, fresh, spring clothes and the good feeling factor is at its highest.

And while the never ending processions move around the city in an impeccable urbanistic organisation, the streets are converted in the latest fashion trends, others less trendy and of course, and why not, the conventional Sevilla fashion. This year it looks like Coco Chanel stayed at home, while the minimalistic skirt and the killer heels had a comeback according to El Diario de Sevilla.

Everyone wonders how anybody can survive such heels on the day you walk most in the city, stand for endless hours waiting for the processions and getting a taxi is an impossible mission.  As the article says, at least podologists work on Monday and at times, fashion is fashion.  Admittedly, I also had my fashion moment.  In the midst of all this sacredness, I could not resist shooting these beautiful baroque earrings.

Fashion apart, these days the streets are filled with a sacredness that is hard to explain.  Sacredness less in terms of holiness and more in terms of unique moments which pass by you, and every now and then, you get these unexpected goose bumps: the rhythmic bands accompanying the Virgin and the Christ, the crowds pushing to touch the sacred statue, the haunting nazzarenos in their pointed caps and the flawless choreography in the little corners of the city where the turn of the statue is nothing less than a maneuver of over 50 costaleros(the men carrying the images).

In my eyes, the semana santa remains above all a visual fiest.  As in previous years, I grabbed my camera and clicked my way through the crowds trying to capture these little magical and sacred moments:

Puntos de vista religiosos aparte, la semana santa en la mayor parte de Europa sigue siendo una de las más sagradas semanas para la gran mayoría de nosotros. Si además vives en el sur de Europa y, especialmente, en Andalucía, es imposible permanecer al margen de todo lo que sucede a tu alrededor.

En Sevilla, las procesiones comenzan temprano: un domingo antes que en la gran parte de los demás lugares. De echo, el Domingo de Ramos es un gran día para toda la sociedad sevillana. Las familias se reúnen en el centro de la ciudad, los amigos quedan para el almuerzo, la gente a la que no has visto desde hace tiempo resulta  estar en la cafetería de al lado. Y como dice la tradición, todo el mundo se viste con su ropa especial de domingo, una ocasión para desfilar sus nuevas adquisiciones de primavera. Y si el día es tan hermoso y soleado como ha sido este domingo pasado, entonces todo el mundo se alegra de poder estrenar sus ligeras y nuevas ropas primaveriles con el humor en lo más  alto.

Así que mientras la interminable procesión se mueve por la ciudad en una organización urbanística impecable, las calles se convierten en pasarelas de las últimas tendencias de la moda. Bueno, algunas de moda y otras un poco menos, por supuesto. Y, por qué no, la moda convencional Sevilla. Este año parece que Coco Chanel se quedó en casa, mientras que la falda y los tacones minimalista asesinos hacen su reaparición, según una materia publicada en el periódico local El Diario de Sevilla.

Todo el mundo se pregunta cómo alguien puede sobrevivir con los tacones en el día en que más se camina en la ciudad, aguantando a las interminables horas de espera hasta que por fin pasan las procesiones y dónde tomar un taxi se convierte en una misión imposible. Como dice el artículo,bien para los podólogos que al final tienen mucho  trabajo el lunes y, al final, la moda es la moda. Debo confesar que yo también tuve mi momento de rendirme a la moda y en medio de todo lo sagrado, no pude resistirme a fotografiar estos pendientes barrocos.

Moda aparte, en estos días las calles se llenan de un carácter sagrado que es difícil de explicar. Pero sagrado no tanto en términos de la santidad sino que más en términos de momentos únicos que pasan delante tuya  y que de vez en cuando te provoca esta piel de gallina inexplicable: las bandas rítmicas siguiendo a la Virgen y el Cristo, la multitud empujando para conseguir tocar la estatua, los inquietantes nazzarenos con sus gorras de punta y la coreografía impecable de los más de 50 costaleros que hacen sus maniobras para poder llevar los pasos a todos los rincones de la ciudad.

Desde mi punto de vista, la Semana Santa es, ante todo una fiesta visual. Así que, como en años anteriores, saqué mi cámara e hice estas fotos durante mi paseo entre la multitud.

Organising …

As you all know, I love jewellery.  And given yesterday I finally passed my DEA defense , this week I will take some time off to do all the things I always want to do but never have time (for example, write on this blog).  First thing on my list is to organise my own jewellery collection.  I have been checking various sites on creative solutions on how to organise your jewellery and this is what I found:

I am still undecided on how to organise my little collection.  I know everybody has their own creative ways of organising things.  So if you have any ideas on how your organise your own stuff, we would be happy to hear from you.

Yesterday, I also spent some time with Ms J exploring shops in Seville for lace borders to try and do some new jewellery inspired by some stuff I’ve seen in Barcelona worn by Geisha D.

And finally, some exciting ideas on interior designn style and I cannot not mention the launch of the Sonia Rykiel collection by H&M this coming Saturday, which will also be available in Seville.
